Chlorine is found in nearly all municipal drinking water. Chlorine is one of the most effective ways to rid bacteria and other harmful organisms from water. While the amount of chlorine typically found in water is harmless, it can have an unpleasant smell and taste. Chlorine is great for cleaning, but not for drinking.
